Meet Kathleen

Being dyslexic myself, I understand what it's like not to be able to read, write and spell. That was me in the first grade. I remember sitting at the reading table, and just staring at the letters, because they weren’t making sense to me. Reading was hard, and it made me feel like a failure.

Nothing was clicking for me, and my teachers didn’t know how to help me.

It wasn’t until the third grade that I finally got the help that I needed. At this time, I started working with a private tutor who was an Orton-Gillingham certified instructor. With this direct, systematic and multi-sensory approach to learning, I finally learned how to read!

For the next several years, I attended a private school for dyslexic students. Where I was able to learn the way I needed. After four years, I went back to a regular public high school, I was able to test out all of the strategies and accommodations that I was taught. And you know what? I succeeded!
